5 Mistakes to Avoid When Painting Cabinets

I made a few mistakes while painting the old oak cabinets teal in our guest bathroom.
I decided to share them with you so that you don't have to make them yourself!
My mistakes include not sanding completely, not tinting my primer, and not labeling my hinges. While none of them doomed my project, things would have gone a lot more smoothly had I taken a little more time and care when working on them.
Stop by my blog to see all of my mistakes -- and how to avoid them! You can also see my finished bathroom -- I love how it turned out!

Words of warning about painting the hinges. Since you can't bake the paint onto the metal, spray painting them will allow the paint to chip off with all the opening and closing you will be doing. I just went through this. Also, wanting to replace them with new ones turned into a disaster also, because my hinges are 35 years old and they don't make hinges the same size. If I purchased new ones, I would have to fill in the old holes, and then drill new holes about 1/2 a screw width off of the original hole. Not the best idea to drill into the filler.
