Step By Step Painting of Kitchen Cabinets With Dixie Belle Paint

4 Materials
These Kitchen cabinets were painted by Kim De Jong. Kim is one of Redposie’s paint store favorite customer and a instructor for the Redposie™ Stenciling Workshop. Kim was kind enough to allow Redposie to come in to her home and photo shoot her cabinet painting project. It was a Do-It-Yourself project transforming white kitchen cabinets from drab to fab using Dixie Belle Paint, Dixie Belle Glaze and General Finishes High Performance top coat.
BEFORE PAINTING
As Kim did here, if you are going to paint your kitchen cabinets, first remove the cabinet doors and drawer facings. It may take a little time to unscrew all the hinges but in the end It makes the job easier and a lot faster.

She Base coated the cabinets frames with two coats of Dixie Belle Paint color Limeade.

The rich green limeade is just one of 42 colors that the Dixie Belle Paint Company makes.
Pick a work area where you can lay the doors out to paint. Kim placed a large sheet of plastic on the dining room floor.

In this Two tone kitchen, this Island is made the center of attention with Dixie Belle Grunge Glaze over two coats of Dixie Belle color Sea Glass.
“I used plan chip brushes and it left no brush marks” Kim

These spectacular distressed kitchen cabinets painted with Dixie Belle paint are perfect for Kim’s cottage style home in historic St. Charles. Missouri
For durability Kim applied a couple of coats of General Finishes High Performance Flat or you could use Dixie Belle new GATOR HIDE over both cabinets and island. Both of these High Performance Top Coat is the hardest, most durable consumer top coat on the market today. Gator Hide is a water based Poly-acrylic and General Finishes is a polyurethane. If you want your paint to holdup under heavy use apply a few coats of either of these products!
