Decorating a Piano Room With Stencils
A project involving wall stencils is music to our ears! So it was no surprise that when we spotted a stenciled piano room makeover on Instagram that we were floating on cloud nine. A stenciled accent wall is the perfect way to harmoniously blend decor while adding a splash of color. We'd like you to meet Lisa Owen, the talented Owner and Decorator behind Four Thirteen Interiors. Lisa was called in to help a Client update her piano room and turn it into a space that was inviting and cheerful.

The room was a decent size but it lacked personality and charisma that the family wanted while they practiced their music. Lisa stepped up to the plate to transform this space. She decided to create an accent wall behind the piano. First she added board and batten in white to the lower section of the wall and she ordered custom curtains from Calico Curtains. Next on her agenda was painting a wall stencil. Wall stencils are a great way to add pattern and texture to a space. After searching our wall stencils collection, she fell in love with a wallpaper look alike, the Trellis Allover Stencil.
She used blue painters tape to adhere her stencil to her accent wall. This worked best in keeping the large trellis wall pattern in place. Then she used a roller to paint the stencil pattern. Lisa painted the Trellis Allover Stencil pattern using Valspar Gypsy Blue over a color similar to Sherwin Williams White Flour. She was careful not to load too much paint on her roller because this would have caused the design to bleed. Here she is working through the stenciling process.
Once her entire accent wall was stenciled, Lisa added new chairs, accent pillows, and a lamp from Pier1. Are you ready to see how it all turned out?
