Dry brushing is a great way to bring out the details of a piece using very little paint. Learn this wonderfully simple paint technique.

I had a very larg, ornate gold frame with great detail around the edges. Unfortunately, I do not find gold attractive. I wanted to change the piece to a more friendly functional style before I added it to my shop Without losing the details which I love. Enter dry brushing!
Before gold ☹️ Not a fan
For dry brushing you don’t need to saturate your brush. Just tap a little paint onto the end of the bristles. If you’re unsure of the amount of paint you have on your brush start on the non-detailed side of your project.
Don’t overload the brush
Then you lightly brush the paint across the surface. Don’t not press down hard. Just skim your project with paint.
You can see in the video how light the brush strokes are.
The results are incredible!
Just look at the details!
Try dry brushing on your next project. I think you’ll be happy with the results.
