Paint an Old Door Mat!

Have a faded or worn door mat that you are ready to chuck? Don't throw it out just yet, first try this!!

You can do this with a new door mat, but if you are using an old one, like I did, ensure you clean it thoroughly! If you get it wet, let it dry before proceeding.

I banged mine out and vacuumed.

Optional: draw or trace your design on the mat. I tried to trace this daisy with the Sharpie, but found it easier to just free hand it with the paint.

Paint design! I used exterior latex as it was what I had at home with the colours I wanted. You could use interior, just make sure to seal your mat with whatever you use and it should be okay.

A stencil brush worked well for painting to get decent coverage.

After the daisies were painted, I did 3 coats of the blue and the painted the daisies again on top.

I found a dabbing motion worked best. Ensure the paint dries between each coat.

I haven't yet, but you should seal your doormat with Flex Seal clear spray.

And there you go! You've got yourself a brand new door mat and I spent $0!!!!
