Can vinyl garage doors be painted?

We have a white vinyl house with tan vinyl garage doors. Can they be painted white and if so will the paint stay for a lifetime duration?

  We painted ours with high quality California paint over 10 years ago. We live in Maine with severe winter temps and high 80 degree summer temps. We have had no peeling or discoloring. We wash them each spring and they look like they did 10 years ago.
