Can you help me choose colors for our home exterior?

We are looking at a light gold color for exterior - do not want to use white as trim color. Currently the house is beige with med. brown trim. Any suggestions? We have a side deck that has trim the same as around windows and doors and I think it would look weird to paint that white. Am thinking of maybe a real dark brown?

Gold house leans more towards a colonial color scheme. Heritage paint in Rocky point is a great place, John is a great guy. He has all kinds of samples and pamphlets from Benjamin Moore which might help with color choices, and he is very knowledgeable!!! We won’t go anywhere else. Try there!

That would be fine if I lived near Rocky Point but I do not. :-( Thanks for your input though.

    • Chocolate would look pretty with the gold. Just choose your gold carefully, but samples and test. One house in my mom's neighborhood did a gold but didn't quite make it, now dubbed "the toilet house." They are going to repaint.

Be careful when choosing golds. It can end up looking like something you don't want to see. When we bought our first house (over 40 years ago), the countertop in the kitchen was this muddy gold color that looked like the stuff you find in a baby's diaper. The bathroom was a gold that looked like urine. Neither were very pleasant to look at!! If you really want gold, I would suggest that you keep it really light in color and go with something like a deep blue to detract from the gold.
