Does anyone known how to change the color of a[ Red] patio umbrella?

    What is the fabric content and can it be removed from the frame?

      @Thanks Mary. You should be able to paint it, though there's always the chance of it cracking even if you use a fabric medium since it will be outside exposed to the elements. It's certainly worth a try. You'll want to use a good primer to seal the fabric before you paint. With polyester you're better to stay with a latex even if it will be outside. Check with an expert in the paint department where you purchase your paint. They should be able to help you. If they act like they don't know what they are talking about ask if one of the clerks is a painter by trade. Often clerks at HoDe and L's are part timers that work in the trade during the day.

    if you can paint furniture you should be able to paint the umbrella

    fabric paint or stamp a different colour design on /stencil or make a pattern from a section cut out however many you need from fabric of your choice and tack it on well

    I have heard that one can paint fabric with what is called chalk paint. Try searching for Annie Sloan's site. She has instructions for this.
