Can you give me ideas for painting the exterior of this house?

I’m about to undertake the decision on Painting colors for my home. I would like a Tudor style but unsure how to accomplish it. Budget always an issue. The side of the house has thin strips of wood ever 12-16” but that seems too busy to me to paint them dark like Tudor. Or even skipping one and so every other. Also, on my front porch I want to open it up and take out two pillars but don’t know how much load barring is for it. Or what to do to accomplish. I’m lost and would love ideas shot my way! Even if it isn’t a Tudor idea paint scheme. Thank w!!!!

Mid day lighting. Seems to hide in the shadows

When we bought it. However, we removed the bushes, the gingerbread rails and planning to till up and replant grass with some landscaping

Would it be the two posts on either side of your stairs that you want removed? You might need to beef up the remaining two, if that is what you want. Measure the length of your porch and call your town building inspector. Let him know the length of that run and he can tell you what you need to do.

It may be as simple as adding one more post on each end (or make the remaining two posts bigger) to carry the load.

I have trouble seeing your house as a tudor style cause it lacks the gables, stucco and trim boards but here are some color schemes of some gray & white, beige or green painted ones that are pretty. https://www.google.com/search?hs=9hE&sxsrf=ACYBGNQqbfq2hNuqxFgSXqOslZHd79pvKw:1572214522879&q=pictures+of+tudor+house+paint+schemes&tbm=isch&source=univ&client=opera&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjTj5bBu73lAhV6CTQIHZa9DMcQsAR6BAgHEAE&biw=1443&bih=718

When removing the 2 posts if it is load-bearing, you may need to add a horizontal beam to carry the load, and beef up the existing remaining 2 posts to support that roof overhang.... you could get a contractor to give you an estimate.... and consult with him to add a gable and trim boards to achieve the tudor style.

I’m tending to that too. I’m seeing a lot of houses darker with lighter trims. If it’s a fad and goes out I’m stuck. I just don’t know which was to go I’m my color scheme Don’t want to match neighbors

I think you should accent the post brackets, as they are charming. A bright color. Then, you might change your mind about removing 2 posts. My house is a light, milk-chocolate brown, and I am adding medium blue shutters and will accent my front porch railings with that blue. Not sure about door color yet. Avoiding high contrast, except for front door.

Your home is not a Tudor style home and it would be costly to convert it.

Use this site to play around with a color scheme. You can upload a photo of your house.

As for removing two post....you would need to beef up the beam the posts are holding up or even replace the existing beam with a larger one. Your building department may help you or a structural engineer. It would need to pass code. Cannot just beef up the end posts since the beam is what carries the load.

I would leave the posts as they are - they add character to the front entrance. I think the garage doors throw the whole color scheme off. Consider painting them the color of the beams or siding. Paint the front door a contrasting color of your choice. If possible add flower boxes to the second level windows and to the lower right windows. Your house is lovely .

I think in order to have some curb appeal you need to lighten up the paint colors.

I would dress up the area around the steps so they do not show possible a raised flower bed with curve added to it. I would add some railings of some type maybe wrought iron.

tudor style is way too expensive. You need to paint post, trim around windows and garage a lighter color right now it is really dark including your porch furniture. A pop of color on the door would stand out. Go to Sherwin Williams they have a great tool where you see colors that blend with exterior, trim and base of home. Add seating/spray paint the porch furniture you have a lighter color, add some colorful pillows. Also add to the porch with a nice porch light in center of ceiling
