We had carpet glued to the concrete. When carpet was removed the glue remained. We also found a large crack in the middle of concrete. We don’t know how to finish leaving a smooth finish.

There is concrete patch you can purchase at the hardware store. Put a small rubber hose in the crack first, push down as far as it will go and then fill with the filler. Smooth over with a trowel. Try to sand off as much of the glue as possible and then use an outdoor concrete paint to cover. You do not want a real smooth finish or else it will be slippery.
