I always go to the hardware store and ask the people that work there what is the best paint for my house. Then I look that brand up online and cross check the ratings. Once I know what kind I go back in and pick out the color I want. I also know you can buy samples for a decent price and then you can put a couple up on your house and look at them for a week or so to decide on a final color.
Patricia, drive around your neighborhood and take pictures of homes painted in a way that appeal to you...keep the favorite one and adjust it to your situation, look at magazines and online homes...Get the best paint that you can afford...JMO
Benjamin Moore is a good brand. Go to their store and get samples of the colors you like. Paint them on the house. Look at the colors at different times of day and in different kinds of weather and eliminate them until you have the one.
I look for durability. I chose an exterior house paint that is expected to last 25 years. I am going on 10 years now and it still looks like new. Yes, more expensive but well worth it.
