How to lighten brick

I want to lighten but not totally change the brick trim on the outside of my house; (HOA may not like it). Can I water down house paint? The brick is varied in color.

By all means check with your HOA before you do anything.
Yes, you can "whitewash" brick to get that OLD World Look. You can go from a slight change or a heavy change. I perfer the slight change and I like some of it wiped off of darker brick for accent I happen to love it and am thinking about doing the same to my house this summer. But I don't have an HOA!
