  • They probably use yellow because it is a cheery color and to make it stand out a bit. What look are you going for? Do you want it to stand out or blend in? Easy to find at night or not?

I noticed a lot of the older homes are being sided with a darker grey shade with the white time and it looks really nice. The brown tones are in keeping with wooded areas. You could still use the white trim or if you go lighter then use a dark brown trim.

You could paint it in a color that blends in with the wooded area. Sounds like it really stands out from nature now!! I'd use an earth color; some shade of brown, grey or green. You will have fun with this!

There are many variations on this depending on your tastes. You can put a dark green with light trim such as egg shell. If you want a house that blends in, you can paint it to match your landscaping (to a certain extent). We are building a house in desert and we are going to have the entire house blend in with the surrounding 624 acres - including the trim and roof.

Paint it a color that makes you feel happy; then you will relax just a little bit more every time you come home.
