It is strictly up to you...I personally I like lighter colors like you already have but to each his own!

Sorry, but it’s not a good idea. Yes, the house will be hotter and the paint more likely to peel.

  • It will fade and yes make your house a lot hotter depending on where you live. I have seen a few black houses. Some ultra tasteful and chic, and others , well to be polite, not that great, not even kids would want to go there on Halloween.

Take you location and sun exposure into serious consideration. Where I live it would be the death of me and my ac and electric bill. Summers are over 100° for months at a time. Black is not a good choice. But, in the right setting, can look striking.

I have seen some attractive houses with medium gray paint and charcoal gray accents. Your roof will need a redo also, but not too dark. I see you are in MA, so maybe days and days of 90's and 100's are not a problem.

Post a pic if you do it. We would all like to see how it turns out.

I love the charcoal myself, but this is a second home and the roof would clash. Too much $.

Why don’t you just paint the brick black and leave the part that joins bricks together unpainted

I can understand your desire. And if everyone had the same taste, all houses would blook alike. Could you just try it on the north side of your house and a few other spots?

this house is in Sweden, the north of Europe.

I see that you are not living in a the hottest spot of America (between NY and Stephen King in Maine). I think you should try it keeping in mind that you will have a terrible time to cover it up again when you want to change it.

Yes, I can see what you mean. If you take a photo of your house of all 4 sides and print it off, you could, on paper, colour the trims you want in black and check out what the result could be before climbing the ladder.

Another option would be to paint it a lighter color with black accents. This may be a more reasonable option for the concerns you are having.

black which I love, but there are many colors that would support your roof color...could be in any different colors ...get sample .. I understand.... you might find a black brown for outlining the house. I have houses with a roof and that is all you see. Front door in a color, garage door in base color. Even two tones. My suggestion is go to a paint center get ideas from them and proceed. Have fun and add color to landscaping too.

Bad idea. Maybe a medium grey with black trim.
