I want to repaint my concrete front porch- how can I prevent chipping?

My front porch is concrete so we painted it. Now it is chipping off. What can we use to cover it up so that want happen again.

  • If you want to repaint it, alllll the old stuff has to come off first. There's a special paint just for concrete walking floors that you should use, but the surface has to be totally clean first or it wont stick. I would tile it. Scrape and Scrub off as much of the peeling paint off as possible first

    You have to strip the exsisting paint .Use Citrrstrip a safe non toxic remover, clean,allow to dry.Paint with a exterior concrete paint.

    Yes, you have to strip off the old paint. You might try a power washer, but be careful not to pit the concrete. Look into concrete stain. It doesn’t accumulate or peel like paint.

      This was concrete paint and yes we used the power washer to get some of the chipped paint off. But, some of the pain want move. I just wonder if there was something mixed in the concrete that made it peel like it did.

    Find pallets, saw them to size, stain them with outdoor stain to protect against the elements and lay a deck.

    Maybe. That’s what paint on concrete does eventually. It just is.
