Amy, the way it holds up depends on how exposed the door is to sun, rain, sleet, snow etc. Maybe it would be better just waiting the few months, then paint with a good quality exterior paint.

If it were me, I wouldn't paint it with interior paint especially if it's wood. It won't protect the door from moisture like exterior paint would.

If you are going to paint a door now with interior paint--why not just use the exterior paint now. No sense in doing it twice if you can only do it once!
