Stenciled Stoop

I have way more details on my blog but I wanted to share one of my latest stenciling projects! If you look at my profile, I am no stranger to stenciling.
This was the good old before of our small stoop. Pretty gross, right? I love the color of our house, but I wish the guy that flipped the house (and ultimately who painted the house) used a different color here. Georgia clay is SO unforgiving!!

It took me a couple run throughs with the pressure washer to get it somewhat back to better.
After cleaning it and letting it dry, I painted over the dingy gray that was there. The brick still looks atrocious and I do have that on my list....for another time.

We had a quart of white exterior paint in the garage, so I used that as my stencil base color.
I ordered the Santa Ana stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils, bought Rainstorm Exterior paint by Sherwin Williams, and a stencil brush. I really wanted to roll this paint on, like I have in the past on my walls, but the surface was not as agreeable. I had to use a stencil brush to apply the blue. It took longer, but it was cleaner and more accurate
After a few nights of painting, the stoop was finished! With this added pattern, the brick doesn't look AS dingy anymore!
Of course when I was done, I was racing against the rain to get shots and my images are a little darker than I wanted.

The folks at the paint counter told me I should not have to seal this since I used exterior paint, but I am going to see what it looks like in the spring and decide. This spot gets full sun all day long, I am sure it will need something!

How do you remove the peeling paint? Some of mine has peeled off, other places is is stuck.

Have you sealed it yet? How has it held up?

If it's fine, I think you should use Marine Spar poly so the color stays without fading in the sun.

Does the paint get slipery when it is wet
