A Rocker Gets Its Glam Back!

3 Materials
I picked up this old, rush seat rocker last summer. It had definitely seen better days! I also am to blame as it sat outside for a year in my backyard and deteriorated even more. I felt guilty and had to save it!
The rush seat was falling apart and the entire piece was filthy.
The original paint was peeling and chipping off all over.
I first used glue (both Gorilla Glue and carpenters glue) to adhere the rope back into place. I used masking tape to keep it in place while the glue dried.
I then used 100 grit sandpaper and went over the wood frame to try and get as much of the old chipping paint off as possible.
I painted the frame and was pleasantly surprised! Looking good! I used Amercana Decor Curb Appeal Paint - great stuff!
I then tackled the seating. Using a Wooster brush, I really jabbed it onto and into the ropes to try and cover it as best I could.
Here is the after! It is just so pretty in my backyard and adds such a great pop of color! I even found a seat cushion that fits perfectly!
The rocker is now fresh and clean. The Curb Appeal paint is meant to protect in outdoor weather and should hold up a lot better than the old, original paint. I also purchased a small tarp that I pull over the rocker when it rains just to be extra careful with it!
Here you can see an up-close pic of the finish. I only lightly sanded off the old paint and with such little prep, the new finish looks amazing.
I also did not need to prime the rocker first. It only took two coats of the yellow to cover completely!
My rocker has its glam back!
I also used the Curb Appeal paint to give my flower pots a fresh look! Post here:

Could you have used spray paint instead of brushing on the paint? Why did you choose to use a brush? It looks amazing! I'm just wondering.
