An End Table Green With Envy

One day my friend called me and said she had an old table that she was wondering if I could help her paint. Yes, I know, most of you are just going to cringe or worse when you see we painted this darling old table.... but she did not like it the way it was so I committed sin and helped her paint it! She wanted it a little bit fun, a little bit distressed... so we went with three colors and a stenciled top!
After cleaning it all down, we got to work with some homemade chalk paint. I use a heaping spoonful of Plaster of Paris, dissolve it in hot water and add it to my paint. Nope, I'm not picky and do not measure!
After it was bathed in white, I stenciled the top in black with a design I bought at Hobby Lobby.
We painted the drawers green and also a taped off square on the bottom shelf for some extra interest.
We painted the drawer pulls green too, and then put black paint on top of them so that when we sanded some of the black off, the green would just barely peek through, making a lovely "aged patina" look!
Then we took to the sandpaper and went over all the edges so Sarah could have her distressed look. The result? A truly one-of-a-kind statement piece!
