Antique Inspired Writing Space

Country Chic Paint

Do you love French Provincial style furniture? Come see what Mary from Orphans With MakeUp has created with Lazy Linen, Pebble Beach, and antiquing wax!
I just finished painting this cute little table and mirror set. They were not an original set but since they are of the same French Provincial style, I thought they would make a great combination together.

The table can be used either as a writing desk or it would be great as a console table in an entryway.
The table had a very shiny varnish finish so I gave it a good sanding before painting. The base colour is Pebble Beach. Since the table top was very flat and smooth, to add more character to the top, I painted on the base colour in a cross-hatch pattern. When that dried, I applied a wash of Lazy Linen. These two different shades of grey really go well together. Both the table and mirror were then sealed with clear wax.
After sanding and distressing, I added just a little bit of the Antiquing Wax on all the high points. It’s very subtle but it does add more depth to the piece.
The cute little vintage-lookig suitcases are from HomeSense and I think they are a great “small-space” solution for storing files.
The mirror has decorative etching on the glass.
A great piece for where space is limited.
As mentioned above, you can see how shiny the varnish was on the original piece. In instances like this, always give your piece a very good sanding before painting.

I have a similar end table which has water marks...I was planning on painting it and using it as a night table, but I think I will turn it sideways and use it as a vanity/night table...thanks for the cute idea!

The whole vignette is lovely, including the wall.
