Charcoal Grey Mahogany Sideboard

On a shopping trip to Goodwill, I spotted this vintage mahogany sideboard and snatched it up right away!
I started by sanding the top finish off completely working my way from coarse, to medium, to fine grit sand paper for a smooth finish. I gave the body a light sanding with fine grit too. Then I filled some spots where the veneer was missing. Rustoleum's Kona gave the top a nice, even tone. I mixed my own chalk paint for this piece.
I used Rub and Buff to give the hardware a quick makeover.
I sanded the whole piece to remove any bumps and lightly distress the edges. I sealed the bottom portion with Minwax polycrylic in satin and the top in gloss finish.

What did you use to fill the spots where the veneer was missing and what tool did you use to apply it?

Awesome! I have a similar piece that I have not been able to decide how to refinish...you have shown me how I want it done! The only difference is I plan on staining with Unicorn Spit but now the drawers will be painted! Once I find the hardware that I like...I will break out my sander! Thank you so very much for sharing!
