Learn how to turn a cheap IKEA easel into a bright, colorful, education accent for a child's playroom or bedroom! You can customize this is any color combination you want.

BEFORE: Start with a plain $20 MÃ…LA easel from IKEA. Tape scrap paper over the chalkboard and whiteboard portions to protect them from getting painted.

Use flat white spray paint to prime the wooden surfaces of the easel. Set it aside for at least half an hour to dry. The longer you wait, the better.

Paint over the white with your favorite color. I chose a really fun, bright color, but you could pick anything to fit any color scheme.

Paint the tray a complementary color (or the same color if it's easier for you or you just want a uniform look).

Peel away the masking paper as soon as you're done painting, and set the easel aside to dry overnight.

Add the letters of the alphabet along the top and bottom of the whiteboard side of the easel. You can cut them out of vinyl with a Cricut or Silhouette, or you can use letter stickers from the craft store.
