Using a stencil and some chalk paint, I made over our IKEA Hemnes dresser into a piece of global collected decor, worthy of Anthropologie.
To start, I had already painted the HEMNES dresser pink, so it was as simple as cleaning it off and making sure there was no dust or dirt.
Lay out your stencil pattern on the top of the dresser, in a pattern you can repeat without too much fuss. You'll likely do the same pattern on the drawer fronts, so don't make it too complicated.
Once you're set on your pattern, start rolling! I found it easier to do one stencil at a time, that way parts had time to dry before I laid another stencil over top.
Once you're done, leave it to dry and then seal with a top coat. Style & accessorize! If you want to see more bone inlay projects, and what else I've done with this dresser, come visit me on the blog.

Very nice work. That looks just like the inlaid dresser sold by Restoration Hardware.

right?! The stencil makes it easy to do your own, and you can do it with any old piece of furniture!
