I have had this cabinet for over 40 years. It wasn't damaged in any way but it looked dated. I used chalk paint and it is transformed. I just love it! I used textured wall paper in the back and rubbed the same paint on it. In the picture it looks silver but it is the same blue

Before

I wiped down the whole cabinet with tsp. I did not have to sand. I removed the glass and used painters tape to protect the hardware

After the first coat I followed recommendations to add water to the paint for the second coat. Worked like a dream. For this project I choose not to use a wax.

I used textured wall paper in the back. Then I rubbed the sheer color on and off for a wonderful affect. This is a close up of the result

The final results are wonderful
