Do you have flat kitchen cabinets, good structure wood but boring? How about a dresser with no personality? Well no more! With this step by step easy application anyone can bring vintage beauty to a tired wood surface …….

Time to gather everything that you will need so first purchase a small tube of Vinyl spackling with this a little goes a long way, paints of your choice a light and dark to show contrast, a bit of painters tape or masking will be fine, rags , a stencil of your choice and a good little scraper . You may already have these items its ok to use vinyl spackling from a huge tube because you will be putting tiny bits on the scraper. So lets get started! It will be easy don't worry!

so first you will want to tape down your stencil in place. This is important. So you will put a bit of the spackling on the scraper as shown not to much, gently start filling in the stencil moving the scraper up and down very lightly until the stencil is all filled and level at the top. You may have to add more spackling depending on the size of your stencil.

It should look like this. You can practice on a piece of cardboard just to get the hang of it , so you will now pull the stencil off.....

It should look something like this , Now you will need to let this dry completely before you can add paints.

Once dried I painted it the color of my kitchen cabinet.....let that dry good. once that was dry I took a bit of brown on a rag and got it into all the crevices......let that dry well.

Now comes the end... I took more of the original cabinet color and brushed lightly over the top of the design just enough to get this effect.

This is the finished look a very long time ago I shared this technique but only did my top cabinets so now I have top and bottom with a bit of style.

This is a fun application and using your imagination can be taken to some many levels .

Give it a try wont you?
