Antique Shabby Chic Bureau No. 12 (1930s)

Touch the Wood
by Touch the Wood
Let me call this one the most sophisticated we made so far.
Came to us in miserable condition, and leaves us as beautiful as the bureau can be.
We have changed almost everything in this item. The way of making it was very long, we started with ‘Chateau Grey’ surface with ‘Old White’ print on it. Then we pick up white shabby drawer handles to match the print. At the end – we have made a custom pull on the small inner drawer, to do it we have used (you would never guess) a beautiful button we found somewhere on the way.
It is painted with Annie Sloan’s ‘Old White’ and ‘Chateau Grey’ after that. We used our special technique to create this cute distressed texture.

For printing we re-created some victorian graphics we have found on the web, it is done with screen printing technique and ‘Old White’ paint.

The drawers were lined with prints of old vintage letters, we will share them later with you as printable backgrounds.

For long lasting protection everything is covered with couple of coats of Colron’s non-yellowing acrylic varnish – safe to wipe with a dump cloth.
Attention to detail

All our furniture are distinguished by attention to detail. We put a lot of effort to be sure that all small parts of our work will not spoil the overal result. That is why we, for example:

•painted the rear side of the bureau;

•changed the felt in desktop support (you may notice, it was green before);

•bottom of drawers lined with custom prints and varnished for protection;

•created custom pull on the small inner drawer (to match overal look of interior)
