How to Turn a Door Into a Laundry Room Table #DIY #BuildIt

In our house we have had a laundry room that was right off of the kitchen. It was a really long room (not very wide) and we ended up having pantry shelves in it to use it for a second pantry. I didn't have any kind of table to fold clothes on and it drove me crazy!! I need somewhere to put the clothes when I'm folding them. So our solution- we built a table out of a door to put over the washer and dryer! It worked great and I love it!
We started with a door, we got a cheap one for about $20. We used a door because it's lighter and cheaper than regular wood.
The door was held up with 2x4s, so we put those onto the wall.
Then we built a shelf for the other side of the washer, that will support the table too.
We then put the door onto the shelf.
I wanted a fun pop of color, so I painted it turquoise.
Then we put some molding onto the door, to give it a nice finish.
I then painted the top of the table to match my decor.
And that's it!! Super easy to make and I love how it looks! Plus it's nice to have more shelves in my laundry room! For more details and step by step instructions, check out my blog post.

What did you use to make the cute flowery designs on the appliances?

This is a great solution for your laundry room. Beadboard on the back of your shelving unit would be cute too. How are you able to pull out the dryer to clean the lint from the dryer exhaust now without having to disassemble what you have built? To decrease fire hazards it is recommended this is performed a few times per year. I am honestly curious because we have such a difficult time getting ours pulled away from the wall without it being enclosed.

Love the flower designs on the washer and dryer! Did you free hand those or are they decals!?
