My $9.99 Louis Chairs Makeover

I am so pleased with how the chairs turned out. Now they are by no means professional, but for my first time doing this kind of upholstery, I am thrilled. (I still have to add the welt trim around the edges, but I just had to play.)
Stripped all the old fabric off the chairs was really unreal. There must have been a gazillion staples. It at least showed me how to put it back together. I saved everything to use as a pattern.
This is what they looked like when I found them at Goodwill. Really, really dirty and a sort of orange/blonde wood color. Not pretty at all, but for $9.99 each, I couldn't pass them up. I figured even if I screwed up recovering them, I hadn't lost a lot of money.
After I stripped off all the old fabric, I stained them with gel stain. I love how they turned out. I recovered the seats, then I needed to figure out the backs.
I taped a piece of each of these fabrics to the backs. I finally decided that cowhide and whimsy was what I wanted.
I used the old fabric as a pattern and started putting the back back together.
First step was to staple the cowhide in the back, then the foam and batting went on.
Then I staped the same fabric I used on the seats on. Now to finish the edges.
I could either make double welting which I didn't know how to do or use gimp. I chose gimp.
It finished off all the edges really nice and covers up all those staples.
They aren't professional, but I am really happy with how they turned out.
