We have 1 end table in our bedroom - my husband lets me "share" his... so generous! He's my inspiration for this project - we've shared many things over our 26 years together - I figured it was time he could stop sharing his end table.
My phone usually ended up on my dresser, which is too tall for me to easily grab it when the alarm goes off. I found this "telephone table" at our local restore for $5 - it wasn't scratched up, and luckily, it didn't need any repairs. It was however, pretty bland. I bought chalk paint, & the chalk paint top coat, but the rest of the supplies I had already. Total on this project: $36. I said "3 days" due to drying time.
The "before" shot. I cleaned this up using just vinegar mixed with water - I use this on my windows, so it was handy.
Using Rustoleium "Chalked" ultra matte paint, I started the edges as I often forget to do them. This is called "lake blue" and I requested double white colorant because I thought the original color was a wee bit too dark.
First coat done! You can still see the wood color showing through. I let this sit overnight as I was on my way out the door when I finished.
Second coat done - perfect! I also had it sit overnight again before adding my 1st coat of the Rustoleium chalked protective top coat - also in Matte.
Once the first layer of topcoat dried, I decided to do a variation of one of my favorite quotes on the top - blue painter's tape is my friend for lettering!
Here's the top once the lettering was done. I let it dry while I was at work, then sprayed it with a clear satin. I thought using the brush-on sealer might smear the letters & I didn't want to start over.
Final look. For now. Lol. I have it in place & my charger is already on the shelf.
