You will have to divide the dresser equally, a picture would really help with the "how to's".
It's going to depend on how the dresser was built originally but you should be able to cut it in half. You'll then have to address the cut sides and top to close everything up, then probably its base or feet. I'd give the piece a big once-over first then figure out the remaining steps before cutting.
Cut it in half and add top and legs (Timber,steel or Hairpin etc. or plinth to match existing.
