Chair makeover, Help me!

It looks pretty good to me, but I do see a few here and there you could try applying some wood oil or stain to make them not as noticeable. Looks like a really nice project.

Sand the dinged areas with medium sandpaper, do gently and work the area so the dinged areas start to blend in. Your dinged areas give the chair character, so either smooth out or leave, if you like. if you want to retain the wood look, then just restain. If you paint, apply a white coat first, then your color. A white coat first, gives the paint a smoother finish, I think, then apply a color. So many color choices, coordinate with new fabric on the chair seat. Have fun!

Looks similar to this chair, circa 1960. I'd spruce up the cushion, but I wouldn't paint it. This mid-century chair is worth about $200 US.

A fabulous fabric is all that it needs to get you started... choose one that you are really attracted to and then decide to paint or not using the color(s) in the fabric as inspiration. Depending on YOUR style... Painting then distressing to make it "shabby chic" might be what it needs .

I would Gut the chair and place mini storage underneath it. And I d have to he design a different color like an abstract everyone does blue or brown or ugly grey ,beige Use Floral,Peach or Aqua You always need a Pop of Color or A Patriotic Theme Storage underneath is great for a blanket and your mail and book and some magazines so when unexpected company comes over u just put them in the chairs storage or when the weather changes and u don't need a blanket on your chair

also place extra cushioning in the Chair .There are tall people. In this world who don't get the quite right options for them to sit down whether they are older Heavier or tall like 6 foot four

What a great chair for a make- over, I just did one in one of my projects. I had noticed from your photos that your sofa is in a grey tone, so I personally would spray paint it a black in satin then add a grey striped fabric to the seat and it will look amazing📌. Here’s a photo below

You can cover the scratches with Old English furniture polish. It comes in light or dark and you would need the dark. Do not worry about the "dings" in the wood, that gives them the "antique" look. (some people take chains to new furniture to make it look old!) The Old English will clean it and also stain the light areas of the scratch. It is wonderful. My old furniture has many scratches and even breaks in it. I covered it all after mending the breaks so it does not show at all with just Old English! One bottle lasts me a year. Also I wipe all my wood furniture down 2 times a year (we have a lot of wooden furniture) and a bottle lasts me a yr so it goes a long way. Just apply it in a corner of a soft cloth. It will cover that scratch beautifully!

If you want to stain the "dinged" areas to match the rest of the chair, Home Depot can match stains just like they do paint. The only problem is you need to bring in a sample (and it looks like you'd have to bring in the whole chair ...). If you do get stain to match, just lightly sand the dinged areas and then apply the stain. I think I would use a cotton swab (like the ones for cleaning your ears) to apply. To finish off the job though, you would need to apply a similar varnish/polyurethane to match the sheen of the rest of the chair .

Might try Old English Scratch cover for dark wood. Wipes on like a furniture polish.
