How do I redo my coffee table?
I removed the veneer from the table only to discover not real wood (to sand smooth), but PARCEL BOARD underneath! The table is 28" x 40". Any suggestions? The legs and sides are in great shape. thank you

You could add some wood planks to the top for a farmhouse look.
there are online vendors that sell new veneer wood. in my experience, the local hardware stores do not, they only sell very thin pieces more for edges, etc. However, if you can't find the veneer and really want wood, you could cut 1/8' plywood (it comes in birch, oak, etc) and make a new top

Thanks so much. I really don't like the Country/Farmhouse look. Will be checking then wood at Home Depot.
I think your best bet is to have a new top made. Depending on your decor, you might consider a marble or quartz top, too. A friend has beautiful traditional tables with marble tops, and that could also go with a more modern look.
You could add new veneer to the top or cut a new top from maple plywood. It's clear and without knots for the most part and you can find sheets of it at Home Depot. It's not that expensive.
