Holly...Annie Sloan chalkboard paint would be a good suggestion but clean well before using and sand any places that you feel might need it. Good luck!
I would sand and prime
I agree with Sandy. Chalk or milk paint is the new "it" product. My daughter just finished painting her entire kitchen two months ago. Her only prep was to degrease the cabinets. You can leave it flat, but the wax sealer will be better used in an area like a kitchen. Annie Sloan has beautiful color choices.
