Help with bathroom cabinet color

We are re-doing our master bath and have completed the floor tile, accent tile, and walls and trim painted. I would like to paint the cabinets and frame around the mirror. The finish is so outdated. I'm looking for ideas on a color that would coordinate with the floor tile, accent tile, the neutral wall and white trimwork. We do plan to have that ugly fake marble sink redone as well but we'll be able to find something that brings all the colors together (I hope). Thanks very much for reading and responding to my post.
Current cabinet finish - outdated
Floor and accent tile that lays across the threshold to the bath area and to the master closet and to the bedroom
Wall color - we just painted this and want to keep this neutral color
The frame around the mirror matches the cabinets

I think a nice shade of grey would look great. I got the idea from one of my recent fav bathroom makeovers from @BlesserHouse here: http://www.hometalk.com/diy/-7240205 The card catalog labeled pulls are such a cool idea too! If you're not nuts about grey I think a nice dark blue would look good too. :)

I would pull the darkest shade of charcoal grey out of the floor tile and go with that. then if you still like the style of the hardware on the cabinets I would spray paint with chrome paint and then cover them in epoxy for durability.

@Patricia I think it can work depending on what shades of gold and grey are put together. Can you post a better picture of your curtains?

I can't help but see a little green in your tiles...depending on what kind feeling you're going forn I think a hues from sage to hunter green could work. Then you can go with an autumn color scheme for linens & such. In bathrooms, I love light, spa hues personally, so I would paint the wood sage and then use cream linens. Brushed bronze hardware & you'd be all set

Yellow and gold were a popular colour combo. If the pic of tiles is true to colour, there are some lovely colours in them. I like Dawn Thompson's idea of green, and Danielle's idea about a darker gray.

Hi Patricia- there are so many beautiful colors in those tiles that you have a very wide spectrum to choose from. I took a screen shot of the tile pic, then put it into the Benjamin Moore Color Capture App (lots of paint companies have their own version of this as well) Then, depending on which part of the tile you select, it will give you the different colors that are in the floor tiles. You just need to download the app on your phone and take a well-lit pic of the floor tile to get the proper colors. Possibilities are endless!!

I like the idea of the light grey that Hannah Vaughan referred to in her post. I would not go with a dark color, unless you want to bathe in a dungeon.

I would say a very light gray, since the tile is darker. Perhaps even a white, if your walls are going to have some color on them!

Cannot really see the wall color from the pics, but it looks to be a beige neutral light shade. Your floors are dark with many shades so I would look carefully at painting the cabinets and mirror frame in a shade somewhere in between the light and the dark. I would go with a darker version of the wall color for contrast against the light wall yet not nearly as dark as the floor. Get many samples from Home Depot and Lowes to put up on the cabinets & look at them for several days in different light to determine what would work best. I have found that the colors reveal themselves over time and you will be able to make the right choice! Hope this helps! Good Luck!

@Patricia I like @Sue@CountryDesignHome comparison with the paint chips. I particularly like the sage colour chips with your tile, which would also provide some colour to the bathroom without fighting with your wall colour. I think it would blend nicely.

Are the walls white? If so maybe a white vanity top and paint the cabinets black. Black and white is always stunning.

I would never suggest painting the wood a color to close to the color of the walls or the tile. You want to be sure the cabinets pull everything together. I have taken interior decorating classes in my youth and help many people. Always keep in mind to much of a good thing gets old!

I recently had really good luck redoing my bathroom vanity with a Rustoleum product: https://www.rustoleum.com/product-catalog/consumer-brands/transformations/cabinet-transformations-dark-kit. The "paint" can be tinted any number of colors. It is also available in lighter colors.

Change faucet to the new dark options . Sand and stain cabinets the new choc brown color . Same for mirror. Accent with pictures with the color in your tiles also with towels. I see you have a lot of chrome on the sink go with Browns. Test one of the doors with stain before you paint. Might like it. If light fixture has chrome spray paint wrought iron or change out with dark .

@No search results.walnutstgrangerI bought hand rubbed bronze spray paint and planned to update everything with paint. Thanks for the recommendation on the brown. Those are the colors I am going with in our new house. Browns, golds, warm neutrals.

I think a dark color, perhaps a charcoal gray to a brown-black color would make everything else pop!

I think a nice rich charcoal would look great. Big color right now. My daughter spray painted all the chrome in her house. Be careful it tends to chip off.
