Please post a clear picture of your cabinet. When we can see exactly what you have to work with, we will then be able offer suggestions on how you might be able to remove the top.
I've been working on mine as well and hopefully yours is similar to mine. Roll the door up and look for screws or rivets in the door guides there and remove one side to allow the rolltop slats to be removed.
