I have a recliner, not even very old, and the vinyl is peeling off, most noticeably on the top part of the back, but also on the seat. Any ideas ? The chair is in great shape otherwise...

Hello. Usually you can find final repair kits in automobile stores or at the Walmart in the automotive section. They could be helpful. Once vinyl starts peeling it is very hard to control it may not be worthwhile investing money into a piece of furniture that will continue deteriorate. Something to consider.

If the chair is not that old did it come with a warranty? Check because then you can call the company and the store and they will have it fixed for you. If not go to an Auto store like Autozone and get a leather repair kit. That should work although not the prettiest solution. Since it is on the top, you might consider going to a fabric store and buying a yard or two of vinyl or leather and make a head rest. I think that would look the best.

You could get tape the same color or you could get a vinyl repair kit on ebay sells them it realy works the trick is to match the color
You can always get a matching piece of vinyl and sew a patch on the tear.
We put a nice red velour blanket queen size over the old recliner it had been shedding pieces of vinyl small pieces would stick to the seated's rear end then fall off on the floor to be vacuumed up.
The red blanket did the trick!
