With the Shabby Chic decor trend still going strong your lamps may be a very desirable item for someone else. Why not consider selling your pink lamps and getting lamps that suit you more. -

Depending on the shape and desired look, I would consider coiling a hessian or coloured twine round them (gluing to the previous layer as you proceed). Or possibly knitting or recycling knitwear for a 'sleeve' or 'cosy cover' - buttons and pompoms could be stitched or glued on if that appeals. Or 'scales' cut from felt or leather (or anything else that wouldn't fray) could be glued from the base up or top down, overlapping - depending on what you were using and the form of lamp - you could end up with the look of a mermaid, pine cone or random interesting object.
