How do I clean/restore antique wooden kitchen chairs?
I bought two kitchen chairs and would like to clean them up but not strip and refinish them now. I have seen home remedies to do that.

You can use mayonnaise to remove some of the stain if to dark and it is also a good cleaner. I have used it to polish old furniture too. It works
Dawn dish soap, Murphy's Oil Soap or a vinegar water solution will work just fine. Old English products are great to shine up the chairs once clean.

Since you don't want to stain them, once they are all cleaned up using suggestions above, if they look a little dry or not finished well I would suggest wiping on a coat of Howard Feed-n-Wax. It's a wood polish & conditioner that will warm up the the look of the wood without changing the color. Formby's make some products that do the same and some that help with scratched finishes too. It just gives a little life to the wood if that makes sense.
