How do I give this bookcase a beach/coastal look??
Old bookcase. I pulled a chair over to demonstrate the colors on my lanai. All suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance!

How To Style Bookshelves For A Coastal Farmhouse Look

I think I would just lightly whitewash it, maybe pop those 2 trim pieces off the bottom, and let it go. Then you could style it like Mogie shows.
Here's some ideas from Pinterest, I like the idea of matching your chair with a back wall of the bookcase. Then fill the bookcase with coastal items...sea shells, etc.

You could paint it a shade of blue from that pillow and distress it with some sandpaper.

I would try to paint or stain the legs to match the chair and paint the rest either color of lime or blue that is in the pillow. I would look for frosted decals that have a motif of the seaside for the glass doors. change out the handles for starfish or other marine life. There are a lot of good ideas out there it is just a matter of finding what you like the most.
Virtually no prep work - paint the frame one of the colors from the pillow in chalk paint. You can chalk paint the shelves and door frame in white chalk paint. Use decor items or peel 'n stick beach themed wallpaper for the back. I would take out the prissy etched glass in the doors. You can replace with clear glass, chicken wire, leave it all open, etc.
Hello. A gray weathering or a white wash transparent paint coating might be an option and I would suggest changing the handles.
I actually think it looks pretty beachy as is! Maybe just accessorize with shells etc.
Paint with blue then cover with white and distress with sanding block to reveal a bit of the blue below. The glass is definitely not beach/coastal so I would cover the glass in some fashion. You can add contact paper, static cling film, or paint with an opaque glass spray paint.
you could chalk paint it or distress paint it by using white over the existing color or even painting it a coastal color then distressing it- also removing the doors would give it an open feel where you could decorate with coastal items
Looks pretty close as it is really. You could do a light white wash over it and maybe dress up the glass, spray the glass to be translucent, or replace the glass with chicken wire.
You might be able to add a stain to it to give it that look... you can see something like what I mean here - https://chascrazycreations.com/coastal-wood-candle-upcycle/
Paint it sea blue, and put a blue green wallpaper on the back of the book case. Accessorize with sea shells.

Hello,
Stick a sea view to the back of the doors of the cabinet and maybe add Driftwood, Sells or a Seaside type plant on the top . Enjoy!
Very nice looking book case. It will be alot of work but worth it. I would remove glass and hardware, sand down to wood and stain and clear coat with the shade you want
A coat of white paint will give it a fresh, coastal look.
