Deb: I'd Brillo them just to clean them well and then use spray paint meant for plastic. They should last a good bit longer and look great!
Rustoleum makes a paint specifically for plastic.

Wash them down real good. Let them dry. Use Rustoleum or Krylon paint for plastic.
You could do all of the above if you have the energy, I gave up and bought pillows from the thrift store, washed them in the machine and you cannot see how awful my chairs look. They do not have to match. Chairs are 20+ years old and have been cleaned and cleaned. The paints really do look amazing though.
Clean them and purchase spray paint for plastic. Works really well!
