Spray paint! One like Rustoleum that's intended for metal. :)
First use a primer spray paint. Rustoleum makes a good primer. Then Spray with black spray paint. With the primer you are guaranteed it will not chip off.
Spray Paint?
I painted an outdoor mesh type metal furniture a few years ago and I used to spray paint. I prepped and cleaned the set carefully— sanded it away any loose finish or rust and then used a Rustoleum spray paint —it has always been my favorite choice for professional results. The rustoleum spray paint often has primer and paint combined in one. The universal series has an excellent designed applicator- easy to use top spray nozzle that can operate in any angle.
The before and after was a remarkable accomplishment. I like the oil rubbed bronze finish much better than the white finish. Best wishes with your metal furniture rehab
