How do I paint painted wood?

    Lightly sand it then paint it two coats

    Paint it with the,same kind of paint that was,on it before. Oil on oil, latex on latex.

    If the first layer of paint is in good condition, start by cleaning it really well to get rid of any grease, grime or build up.

    Then I would lightly scuff sand it with 220 grit sandpaper. You just want to give the new paint something to stick to.


    Once you wipe off all the dust, you can start with your paint.


    I like to use chalk paint (any brand will do), but you'll need to topcoat it with water based poly ( I prefer Varathane brand).


    Buy a nice brush like a Zibra or Purdy brush, and paint the paint with thin even coats of paint until you get full coverage.
