You can either decide to paint it with a chalk based paint and a sealer or strip off whatever it has on it now and stain and poly. It depends if you are a "painted furniture" kind of person. I personally would choose a color that goes with my home and paint it.
Hi ! You can paint it ! Easiest way is with chalk paint , no sanding needed !
Or you can take out the drawers , lay a flat board down , and put baskets in place of the drawers. You can paint it and use it for a different type of storage , craft supplies , knitting drawer , sewing box drawer , ... You can paint it and re do the top ( or all over ) by making a collage using maps , post cards , book pages ... Or you can tile the top or mosaic using glass tiles , or old keys , pennies ... Have fun with it !!!
