How can I change the color of custom woven wood blinds

I want to paint/dye or whatever to the woven wood blinds I have. Any recommendations or thoughts?

  I agree with @Becky Spray paint is great! I spray painted metal Ventian blinds from the 30's. The tape and string had yellowed. They looked so bright and clean afterwards. I didn't take them apart. I did the front and back, and then touched them up. I was shcoked at the difference. The spray gets into all the nooks and crannies. It is better to do a couple of light touches to avoid dripping and and gumming up the ''mechanism''.

  p.s. You could alternatively take them apart and use gel stain on each slat after a good cleaning. You could then I suppose spray paint the rest.
