How to paint dining room table top so it won’t scratch?
Want to paint over dining room table and china closet on my 1962 Thomasville set which is a glossy brown wood to metallic gray/pewter shade. Would love the professional finish especially on the table top since it will be used daily.

You could put an epoxy coating on the table top afterwards to protect your paint...barring that, several coats of a polycrylic, lightly sanding in between coats
Polycrylic would be the best top coat for anything that gets lots of heavy use.
