    Linda....I would use Citistrip and remove old stain...Your hardware store should have it along with items you will need such as a paint brush and scraper. Good luck

    If you don't want to refinish, try Old English furniture scratch cover and polish.

    Odds are it needs to be removed and refinished. You could try to clean it well and then restain, using a gel stain that matches the old finish.

    “Restore” means to me, not stripping it.

    I use many shades of stain that I have put in artists markers made to hold stain- for scratches and mars. I

    I do not Danish oil worn finishes as they absorb the oil and turn very dark.

    If you want to deep clean it, many people swear by GoJo hand cleaner, although I’ve yet to try it.

    I use a lot of Murphy’s Oil Soap and it may help, depending on what you want to achieve.

    People either love or hate Howard’s Restora Finish. I’ve yet to try it.
