It does sound like wax is the most common but people also do polyurethane or polyacrylic to seal chalk paint. Personally I would go with a polyacrylic.

Yes you have to put a sealer over chalk paint. Either a wax or acrylic, or poly sealer.

Hi! If it is going to get any wear like a table, I use polyurethane. I usually use wax on dresser tops. Good luck!
You should to help protect it and seal it
I have left it natural and used poly depending on the use. If a coffee table or side table poly can protect it from scratching and chipping.
