I think white will look lovely. You can chalk paint it a nice warm white.

Thank you Shoshanna, I am actually leaning toward a creamy off white chalk paint.

I would do an off white, not stark white. Possibly paint back a different shade...a bit darker cream. Distress it using some sandpaper on corners, edges, will soften it.

I think you may have come up with the right idea for my hutch. Thank you Grammy.

Are you going to use it for the same purpose? Do you want to change the look of the entire piece or just the color? Do you want to take out the glass or maybe use Plaid Gallery Glass to make a faux leaded glass 'look'? Do you want to keep all of the doors on the bottom? Do you want to remove some of them for open shelving? What about the handles, do you want to change them? What is your fav color. Do you love pink flowers, have you thought about an antique type of look with small decal trim here and there of tiny pink flowers - or yellow - or blue? Do you want to add 3D trim to the doors in addition to what's already there on the bottom? Do you want to go eclectic with neon colors or do you like black & white? There are so many questions to ask before you decide.

Try Heirloom Traditions chalk paint. One of their products is specifically to paint furniture. You don't need to prime or sand it first before painting - it's really pretty easy. Manor House is their off white/cream color.

Once you've painted it, you can lightly sand any areas you want to look "worn" and then wax over those areas. Finish the entire piece in a polycrylic matte finish to seal it.
