Not an easy fix without removing the face plate/wood, removing that section and adding a new piece of board the same width and length. Wood filler will look like wood filler, though some people try to use that.
Personally, I'd scrap the idea of fixing or rebuilding the drawer. Hopefully it's a top drawer. Instead of rebuilding, use the existing drawer bottom, if whole, to create a shelf to store watches, wallet, change, jewelry, belts, etc... you can never find that one tie you love! Purchase a small baggie of shelf supports (ie: book cases use these) if needed. Very quick and inexpensive fix. Hope this works for you!
My husband was nearby and he is a very talented woodworker, so I asked him. His suggestion would be to cut a "triangle" just by making the present cut/break neater. After is fastened in place (glued/nailed) finish the edge so it matches that above.
I updated mine with the same problem as you , I put a nice little wicker basket in the top
Put a basket in the place of a drawer
If you are not happy with adding and finishing a piece of timber to match the drawer, then I suggest you could replace the draw front with a flat piece of timber and match it up with to other cabinet too., or you could change cabinets around if it is a bedside cabinet, so the broken piece is next to the bed (where the Bed cover might hide the defect from others eyes. Good luck & best wishes in your quest.
Unless you are a seasoned carpenter/cabinet repairer, just remove the faces of all the drawers and replace with new ones. The areas will bother you as long as you have them otherwise.
You could remove the wood on the other doors and just have plain wood drawer with some fancy handware to make these pop and update them. The wood details does date the piece.
You would be amazed how much amazon has when it comes to drawer hardware. Great place to get ideas.
I would not try to fix that. I would make a new drawer front or use that section as a shelf.
Using ood glue stick another piece of wood in place, and when dry shape it to match existing and finish to choice.
I would cut the broken piece so it's a straight cut and add a piece of wood to it.
Depending on your level of skill and tools, the easiest is to leave it off completely and make a shelf for storage, to get tougher, make a wedge and attach or replace the rawer front. Personally, I would leave it off.
Hi Kathy, hope this helps, you can fix it.
