check with your local electric company for old wood large wire cable spools -- they usually just trash them but you could paint it up to be something amazing..just a thought

yes i agree the wire cable spools are cool and top could be finished in all kinds of styles and then finish top w/ paint for an industrial look. Or you could go to a thrift store and get a round table in size you need or make 1 with plywood top -would need 2 sheets cut into 36" 1/2 circles cut 4 and glue 2 of them them together on top of each other for each side to get a thicker table top (don't pay attention to legs if you buy 1)--either way making or buying you could use Black iron plumbing pipe as the legs w/fittings /flanges for feet. Then top could be painted to look like faux metal top (would need to iron on edge banding to plywood to hide layers) either rusty or shiny. Or get some metal sheets /flashing and cover tabletop with it. Or you could use pallets or planks of wood distress and stain for table top with the pipe legs. Sophisticated Finishes carries all metal types - it goes on like paint but is actual ground metal in a bonder and they carry patina for the diff. metals to get look you want.. I have used their products you will be amazed looks real! and cheap :) . If you found a pedestal table you could paint base cast iron or steel and vice versa for top) or again distressed wood top. http://patina.com/index.html here is link to sophisticated finishes . They have area on there you can buy directly from them.. for that size table a 4 oz. bottle should work but would get 8 oz. to be safe on paint-- patina def. only 4 oz. .-- on edges of painted table you could glue down faux round flat wood plugs/buttons/caps that when painted would resemble rivets. You could also use old cast iron sewing machine base as table base-- styles are endless. And if use pipe hardware store can cut and thread end for you if needed. Please post pictures of your finished table! Can't wait to see your vision!
